DIESEL ENGINE MONITORING AND AUTOMATIC SHUT DOWN SYSTEMS ELECTRONIC
When a diesel engine is operated in a hazardous area or in an application where special precautions are justified, it is often a general requirement that the engine automatically shuts down if its speed, critical temperatures or oil pressure fall outside of predetermined limits. It is widely recognised that the best method to achieve such an emergency automatic shut down is by closure of an engine air intake shut down (shut off) valve. To comply with EN 1834-1:2000 both the engine air intake and diesel fuel supply must be shut down automatically in the event of engine overspeed. It must also be possible to operate the air shut down valve manually.

Hazardous area types: approved to the relevant provisions of the ATEX Directive
Series 110 ATEX approved Zone 1 hazardous area diesel engine automatic shut down system particularly suited to applications where there is no battery or other power supply available and/or the shut down system is required to operate independently of other engine systems. The Series 110 will also respond to a shut down signal input from a gas detection or other external source.

Series 210 ATEX approved Zone 1 hazardous area diesel engine automatic shut down system designed for applications where there is a battery or other power supply available during engine start up. Suitable for integration with a flameproof engine start system. The output from this system is also available for use as a control signal to operate, for example, pneumatically controlled intake air and fuel shut off valves.

Safe area types
Series 300 / Series 310 12 and 24 volt diesel engine automatic shut down systems for use in areas not formally designated as hazardous but where special precautions require automatic shut down of an air intake valve in the event of engine overspeed and/or high coolant temperature or low engine oil pressure. These systems are powered from the existing engine speed signal.
